- About Japanese Association of Chiropractors -

INTRODUCTION:

Among the numerous chiropractic organizations in Japan, the Japanese Association of Chiropractors (JAC) serves as the official representative of the national chiropractic profession. Since 1999, the JAC has been the only national member of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC). In 2007, the JAC was registered as a government-recognized corporate organization in Japan. JAC’s membership consists of chiropractors in Japan who meet WHO educational standards, representing the majority of international-standard chiropractors in the country.

Following the 2012 report by the National Consumer Affairs Center of Japan (NCAC), the JAC has maintained continuous communication with NCAC, the Consumer Affairs Agency, the Japan Advertising Review Organization (JARO), and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) to ensure public safety.

The JAC also supports the Japan Chiropractic Register (JCR), a self-regulatory body that protects public safety by maintaining a registry of qualified chiropractors. The JAC submits this list to the MHLW to provide transparency and accountability.

Additionally, the JAC established the Japanese Society of Chiropractic Science (JSCS) within its organization to promote evidence-based, patient-centered, interprofessional, and collaborative chiropractic practice. JSCS hosts an annual research conference to advance scientific understanding and professional standards in chiropractic care.

POLICIES AND STRATEGIC FRAMEWORK:

  1. In cooperation with international organizations such as the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC), the Japanese Association of Chiropractors (JAC) introduces and promotes international standards of chiropractic care in both education and legislative initiatives within Japan.
  2. The JAC raises public awareness of chiropractic through various media channels and scientific research dissemination.
  3. The JAC upholds professional ethics, strictly prohibiting its members from teaching chiropractic techniques to individuals who have not completed a recognized chiropractic educational program or are not currently enrolled in one.
